What does Trudeau think of Biden’s “unlimited zeal”?
On Sunday, Justin Trudeau said Canada is at the “limits” of what the ultra-rich and big corporations can pay. He attacked Jagmeet’s tax plan for going “with unlimited zeal against the successful and wealthy.”
But yesterday, US House Democrats proposed a nearly identical set of tax measures on a nearly identical budgetary scale as Jagmeet’s plan.
Biden’s plan would raise $3.6 trillion over 10 years, increasing annual revenues by about 8% a year – the same as Jagmeet’s plan. And both plans include:
- Cancelling corporate tax cuts (by Harper and Trump)
- Fighting tax havens and closing loopholes
- Increasing taxes on the top income tax bracket
- Taxing the super wealthy
- Increasing capital gains taxes
Does Justin Trudeau still think the ultra-rich and big corporations are at the “limits” of what they can afford?
