Vic Toews attacks the courts... again

Today, a superior court ruled Conservatives acted unconstitutionally by attempting to unilaterally destroy gun registry data.

What was Minister Toews’ response?

The will of Parliament and Canadians has been clear. We do not want any form of a wasteful and ineffective long-gun registry – Vic Toews, September 10, 2012

This isn’t the first time Mr. Toews decided to take on the courts.

In 2003, Vic Toews said:

We have seen these radical liberal judges who have their own social agenda coming to the bench and forgetting that their responsibility is to interpret the law and not to make law. And so we are very, very concerned about that

And less than two months ago Minister Toews commented on another judge’s ruling:

“Federal Public Safety Minister Vic Toews says Shawn Lamb's case is an example of a "revolving door" justice system that the Conservative government wants to change. “Why was that individual out on the street anyway after that many convictions?” Toews told reporters in Winnipeg on Tuesday. – CBC, June 26, 2012

Vic Toews isn’t even waiting for Stephen Harper to appoint him before he starts acting like a judge and interpreting the law.
