Trudeau cashing in on the backs of students

In 2011, Justin Trudeau said he was worried that “the cumulative student debt in this country has reached more than $1 billion.” (It was actually closer to $15 billion – but never mind.)

Today, students owe more than $20 billion to the federal government. Since he was elected six years ago, Trudeau’s government has collected $4 billion in interest from students.

Meanwhile, Trudeau teamed up with Erin O’Toole to vote against making the ultra-rich and big corporations pay their share.

Jagmeet Singh:

“Justin Trudeau says the right things about helping young people. But he teamed up with Erin O’Toole to let big corporations off the hook while collecting billions of dollars in interest payments off people with student loans. People can’t afford his empty promises anymore.”
