Top 15 Senate spenders during the last election

During the last election, Canadians may have been surprised to find senators showing up and campaigning for their respective political parties while still being paid by the public.

Reports today focus on the money claimed by Conservative Senator Bert Brown, but as a public service we are releasing the complete list of the top 15 senators claiming travel expenses for the reporting quarter covered by the last election (2011/03/01 to 2011/05/31).

Ten are Liberals, three are Conservatives and two are Progressive Conservatives.

Six were appointed by Jean Chrétien, three by Stephen Harper, two by Brian Mulroney, Pierre Trudeau, and Paul Martin.
