Singh in Hamilton to highlight NDP dental-care win for families, seniors, and people living with a disability

HAMILTON – On Wednesday, Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh continued his Canada-wide post budget tour, talking to Canadians about the expansion of dental care and a doubling of the GST rebate, measures secured by New Democrats in the spring federal budget.

The GST rebate will save 3.5 million Ontarian families up to $467 dollars and the dental care expansion will save eligible families up to $1,247 per year.

“Hamilton families shouldn’t have to break the bank if you or a loved one needs to get their teeth fixed,” said Singh. “That’s why New Democrats used our power to get dental care for children under 18, people living with disabilities and seniors. And this is just the beginning - there is more work to do”

In addition, Singh toured the Hamilton dental bus, a low-income traveling dental clinic, to learn more about the barriers low-income Canadians face in receiving dental care. He then visited Sackville Hill Seniors Recreation Centre to talk to Canadian seniors about how the dental care expansion will impact them.

“For too long, Canadians agonized over paying for the dentist and now I’m hearing coast to coast how relieved people are, knowing the NDP delivered real results for them,” said Singh. “New Democrats will keep working for you and your family.”
