Patrick Brazeau’s questionable sense of humour
Facing assault and sexual assault charges, Senator Patrick Brazeau had the poor judgement to joke about quitting the Senate. On Monday he tweeted details about a press conference to announce his resignation, before revealing that it was an April fool’s joke.
Canadians, who continue to pay for this senator appointed by Stephen Harper, didn’t find it funny.
Despite his run-ins with the law and numerous other ethical lapses, Senator Brazeau will pocket more than seven million dollars between now and his retirement, in 2049. Millions wasted on someone who thinks it’s funny to joke while such serious accusations remain.
Patrick Brazeau will continue to earn more than $130,000 each year to make questionable jokes and show up to “work” only a handful of days a year.
That is Stephen Harper’s Senate legacy. Canadians deserve better.
