Parliamentary probe into General Vance halted: NDP statement

Alexandre Boulerice, Deputy Leader of the NDP and Member of Parliament for Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie made the following statement:

"The Liberals and the Bloc showed us their true colors yesterday by voting in favour of a motion to end the parliamentary probe into allegations of sexual misconduct by former Chief of Staff Jonathan Vance.

This is no surprise for the Liberals, who are only interested in protecting the party's image. They have never been serious about ending the unhealthy culture in our military. The Liberals promised to reform this institution, but they have failed miserably and are letting down thousands of women and men who have been sexually harassed or assaulted and are still suffering the devastating consequences today.

The Bloc, on their end, should start looking inward. Mr. Blanchet will have to speak out on this issue. Why did the Bloc team up with the Liberals and fail to dig deep?

New Democrats will never let these victims down and will continue to fight for justice and sweeping reforms in the military."
