NDP Statement on the Passing of John Crosbie

NDP MP Jack Harris (St. John's East) made the following statement:

“It is very sad to hear of the death of John Crosbie, one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s longest serving political leaders. He was a forceful and successful advocate for the province on the national stage. Serving as Cabinet Minister at both the provincial and federal level, he was formidable, tenacious, and often colourful.

Despite his partisan career, John Crosbie was admired and respected by people of all political stripes, later serving as Lieutenant Governor and becoming ultimately one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most iconic public figures. He will be remembered across the country for his razor sharp wit and tenacious advocacy.

I want to extend my condolences to his wife, Jane, daughter Beth, and sons Michael and Ches, and the whole Crosbie family, as well to a wide circle of friends.”
