NDP Statement for National Public Service Week

Canada’s NDP Leader, Jagmeet Singh, made the following statement:

"During National Public Service Week, let’s come together to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of public servants across our country. This week serves as a reminder of their dedication and commitment to Canadians.

Public servants serve a vital role in providing services Canadians rely on - from keeping Canadians safe to ensuring they have the support they need through tough times. Their tireless efforts often go unnoticed, but they are the backbone of our government and public institutions.

This year, we saw how public servants stood together to demand better wages and working conditions. All Canadians now benefit from their actions, and we are a better country as a result. It’s shameful this government continues to undermine their work by hiring outside consultants, and New Democrats want to see this government give our public servants the respect they deserve.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all public servants, past and present, for their service, professionalism, and the labour they put forth every day. Let us honour their contributions and continue to support and value their work, recognizing that their efforts are essential in building an inclusive and resilient Canada for all."
