NDP statement marking the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism

Leader of Canada’s NDP Jagmeet Singh made the following statement:

“Today marks the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism. On this day in 1985, a horrific act of terrorism took the lives of 329 people aboard Air India Flight 182. Today is a hard day for the victims’ families, and I offer my sincere sympathy to all those impacted.

As we mourn the lives lost, we all must recommit to making sure acts of violence and terror like this never happen again. New Democrats will keep fighting to make Canada a safer place for all and do what we can to support organizations that work to root out extremism.

We will continue to stand in solidarity with those who feel the deep pain and grief of losing loved ones to violence.

The NDP will keep fighting against hatred, extremism and violence in all its forms. On behalf of all New Democrats, I extend my deepest condolences to all those who have been impacted by acts of terror within Canada and worldwide.”
