NDP Leader Don Davies reaffirms commitment to protecting the will of Canadian voters

NDP Leader Don Davies issued the following statement:

"The NDP's position on floor crossing is longstanding and clear. We believe the decision made by voters at the ballot box is a sacred trust. If a politician seeks to overturn that decision, they must return to the voters and seek a renewed mandate.

At this moment, Canada needs New Democrats more than ever. People are losing their jobs. They are struggling to access health care, afford rent, or buy a home. Too many families are struggling to put food on the table.

Working people are being left behind. New Democrats will never stop fighting for them or for policies that improve their lives across this country.

Furthermore, we are deeply concerned by the way Mark Carney appears to be attempting to stitch together a majority government without the clear consent of voters.

Whether Canada has a majority government is a decision that belongs solely to the Canadian people at the ballot box. That decision must be made democratically, not through backroom deals negotiated behind closed doors in Ottawa."
