NDP announces new Interim National Director

OTTAWA – On Wednesday, it was announced that Melissa Bruno will be the Interim National Director of the NDP effective January 15, 2018.

“Yesterday, Federal Council confirmed Melissa Bruno as the interim National Director of the NDP,” said Marit Stiles, President of the NDP. “Melissa will bring a boost of new energy as we continue this important transition.”

Bruno led Jagmeet Singh’s transition team following his election as NDP Leader, and brings extensive experience from her work at Queen's Park and as part of Jack Layton’s Toronto team.

Stiles also praised current National Director, Robert Fox, for his stewardship over the last 15 months, “We owe a debt of gratitude to Robert for his grace, guidance and leadership through a successful leadership race, as well as his unfailing enthusiasm in strengthening relationships with our members and building our movement.”

Following January 15, Fox will stay on as Special Advisor to the Leader as the party prepares for its National Convention in February. Following Convention a comprehensive search process will commence to select the next permanent National Director.
