Liberals and conservatives reject plan to put Canadians first

OTTAWA — Last night, the Liberals teamed up with the Conservatives and Bloc Quebecois to vote down and reject the NDP plan to make parliament deliver for Canadians.

"The Liberal’s throne speech missed concrete actions to help Canadians. New Democrats proposed changes that would have made people's lives better, but the Liberals, Conservatives, and Bloc teamed up to reject those changes," said NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh. “Canadians elected this parliament to bring in programs like pharmacare and dental care. It’s disappointing that Liberals are refusing to help people."

The NDP proposed clear commitments to a fairer tax system, affordable housing, universal public pharmacare, and real, measurable action on the climate crisis. These changes were presented as part of a sub-amendment to a Conservative amended to the Liberals' throne speech.

"While the Conservatives and Liberals continue to look out for themselves and big corporations, we're going to keep fighting to help Canadians deal with the challenges they face every day,” added Singh.
