Don Davies to propose an emergency debate regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine distribution

MP Don Davies (Vancouver Kingsway), the NDP’s Critic for Health made the following statement:

Canadians are extremely concerned about the impact that delayed shipments of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will have on Canada’s vaccination schedule. This interruption will further delay vaccination for Canada’s highest risk populations at a time when COVID-19 cases are surging and highly contagious COVID-19 variants are spreading across the country. Indeed, every day that COVID-19 vaccine rollout is delayed will result in avoidable infections and deaths.

It’s for this reason that I will be seeking leave on Monday January 25, 2021, to propose an emergency debate regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine distribution.

People are making tremendous sacrifices to keep their communities safe because they understand that every day matters during this pandemic. They need and deserve the full details of Canada’s vaccine delivery timeline. It is therefore essential that MPs have the opportunity to debate this crucial issue as soon as possible.
