Conservative iPod tax lie PART II
Like peeling back the skin of an onion, Jim Flaherty’s 2013 budget is a stinker. Daily, Canadians are learning about increased prices on everyday products.
And once again Canada’s music lovers are being punished by Conservatives. They have to pay more! Even industry is warning about price increases in iPod and MP3 players:
“[Sony Executive Mark] Trylinski…predicted a price spike of about five per cent” –Expect higher prices on MP3 players, Sony executive warns, CP, April 9, 2013
Conservatives are raising prices on iPods and MP3 players through border tariffs. That is a Conservative tax on importation - and Canadians are paying the price.
And if any debate remained about whether this is or is not an iPod tax, it was laid to rest in excruciating detail yesterday:
“the iPod tax is alive and well” -Dr. Mike Moffatt, Tariff paperwork may snag iPods yet, The Globe and Mail, April 9, 2013
Now with experts and industry in agreement that this is an iPod Tax, only one question remains: when will Conservatives come clean with Canadians, stop denying the iPod Tax exists and stand behind the policies laid out in their own budget?
Canadians deserve better.
