Canadians deserve economic support that is there for them when they need it

MP Daniel Blaikie (Elmwood-Transcona), Critic for Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion made the following statement:

“The past several months have had a devastating impact on this country’s economy and people’s ability to make ends meet. When they should be helping Canadians, the Liberal government continues to make things harder for people by implementing complicated and ineffective systems that prohibit people from getting the financial support they need.

People being audited by the CRA should not have their benefits cut while waiting extended periods. This is an unfair practice which only hurts vulnerable people. Just like when they asked CERB recipients to pay back money they were told they qualified for, the systems in place are clearly not working.

Canadians deserve economic support that is there for them when they need it. Big corporations have had no problems accessing funds from the government during this pandemic while everyday Canadians are being blocked from receiving the help they desperately need. It's clear the Liberals are working for their friends. New Democrats will fight for you.”
