After six years of Trudeau’s empty words, Jagmeet’s ready to fight for you

BURNABY — In the last day of campaigning before election day, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh was still going strong as he made his final pitch to Canadians. Jagmeet promised to fight for people and deliver the help families need.

“During this campaign, Justin Trudeau has proven what people had already learned about him over the last six years, he likes to say the right thing, but has no intention of doing it,” said Jagmeet. “He called this selfish election because he thought he could grab more power for himself. But, with forest fires across the country and the fourth wave growing, people are disappointed in him again. I’m not Justin Trudeau. I will fight for people right across the country.”

Jagmeet noted that Justin Trudeau’s talk about climate action is all for show. People know he has increased subsidies to big oil and gas while and let emissions rise. It’s the same with housing. He actually let the housing crisis get worse and he helped big-money investors get rich while they pushed everyday families out of the market. He tried to take credit for any conversation about affordable medication, but the fact is, he teamed up with the Conservatives to vote against it and didn’t include any money for it in his budget or platform.  And he took people for granted, hoping they’d forget he also teamed up with Erin O’Toole to vote against taking the profit out of long-term care and against making the billionaires and big corporations pay their share so we can invest in helping families.

“Justin Trudeau likes to make excuses for protecting the rich and says we can’t act with ‘unlimited zeal’ to make life better for people across Canada. But, when I think of the people I’ve met while travelling across Canada, I can’t imagine fighting with anything less than ‘unlimited zeal’ to make life better,” said Jagmeet. “We can’t afford more of Mr. Trudeau’s empty words and defense of the rich. Better is possible. And tomorrow, Canadians need to vote for it.”
