Responsibilities

  • Coordination of precarious work forum to be held in Ottawa on October 26th
  • Organisation of regional consultation meetings in the lead up Ottawa forum
  • Recruit and coordinate required volunteers for the success of the Ottawa forum
  • Day-of logistics of Ottawa forum
  • General administrative and reception duties as required
  • Social media outreach in the lead up to the forum and on day of event
  • Media coordination in the lead up to the forum and on the day of the event
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically good knowledge of Windows and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of the New Democratic Party, the labour movement, government departments, community organizations
  • Knowledge of current research on the changing nature of work in Canada and the emerging crisis of precarious work
  • Familiarity with social media (eg. Facebook, Snap Chat, YouTube, etc.)
  • Sound political judgement
  • Outreach and organizing experience
  • Experience recruiting and coordinating volunteers, particularly in Ottawa
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Administrative experience in busy political office, an asset
  • Knowledge of databases, an asset
  • Bilingualism, an asset

Annual salary

$51,155
(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
