Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage issues, outreach opportunities and events relating to the Member’s work in the riding, including visibility and constituent feedback
- Represent the Member at events and meetings
- Monitor events in the riding and advise the Member on issues concerning the riding
- Develop excellent media relations in the riding
- Prepare written copy, graphic design, and video for social media,
- Manage MP website and databases and keep constituency data up-to-date
- Liaise with community organizations
- Schedule Member’s constituency activities and liaise with Parliament Hill office to coordinate Member’s schedule
- In conjunction with Member’s Ottawa Office, assist with media and communications work, including preparing newsletters, direct mail, op-eds, press releases and articles.
- Manage constituency-related correspondence and respond to inquiries by phone, mail, email, and in-person
- Coordinate in conjunction with other staff the MP’s outreach to constituents including riding events such as meet-and-greets, town halls, canvasses, and open house
- Recruit and engage volunteers
- General administration and reception
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Proven verbal and written communication skills in English, including media relations
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of Winnipeg Centre and riding priorities
- Knowledge of the New Democratic Party and sound political judgement
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of the labour movement, government departments and community organizations
- Familiarity with desktop publishing software, graphic layout skills (InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, etc.) and video editing software (Premiere, veed.io, etc.) an asset
- Knowledge of CMS and databases (NationBuilder, ForeAction, etc.) an asset
- Bilingualism, an asset
- Vehicle and driver’s license, an asset
Annual Salary
$60,490
(Salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
