Leah Gazan, MP - Constituency Assistant, Permanent, Part-Time Position (3 days a week)

Responsibilities
- Support and respond to constituent casework issues related to immigration and other federal departments. This work will include intake, referrals, advocacy and correspondence
- Liaise with various federal government departments and community organizations
- Assist with Member’s constituent correspondence
- Represent Member at events and meetings as well as schedule Member’s attendance at meetings as required
- Monitor events in constituency and advise Member on issues in the constituency
- Stay informed about changes to federal programs and departments
- In consultation with Parliament Hill office, coordinate and manage outreach opportunities relating to the Member’s work in the riding related to immigration
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Proven communication (verbal and written) and research skills
- Additional Languages, an asset (ex. French/Arabic/Filipino/Somali/Tigrigna)
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Proven systems navigation and client service skills
- Knowledge of government departments, immigration programs, and community organizations
- Knowledge of Winnipeg Centre riding and community priorities
- Knowledge and experience with programs like Zoom, Microsoft Office and Excel
- Experience with database/case management software, an asset
- Strong ability to apply ethical and anti-oppression principles to casework
Annual Salary
$30.92/h for 3 days a week (22.5 hour)
(Salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
