Responsibilities

  • Support and respond to constituent casework issues related to immigration/general including intake, outreach and correspondence
  • Liaise with various federal government departments and community organizations
  • Assist with Member’s constituent and critic-related correspondence
  • Represent Member at events and meetings as well as schedule Member’s attendance at meetings as required
  • Monitor events in constituency and advise Member on issues in the constituency
  • In consultation with Parliament Hill office, coordinate and manage outreach opportunities relating to the Member’s work in the riding related to immigration
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Proven communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Additional Languages, an asset (ex. French/Arabic/Tagalog)
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Proven research and casework skills
  • Knowledge of government departments, community organizations and the labour movement
  • Knowledge of Winnipeg Centre riding and riding immigration priorities
  • Knowledge and experience with programs like Zoom, Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Experience with database/case management software, an asset
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Social Work, or equivalent experience an asset

Annual salary

$55,500

(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
