Executive Assistant to the National Director - Canada's New Democratic Party
Job Summary
The New Democratic Party of Canada is seeking a Executive Assistant to support the work of the NDP Executive office in Ottawa, Ontario including the National Director and Deputy National Director. The Executive Assistant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of NDP Federal Office as well as provide high-level executive support to the National Director and her Deputy. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced administrative professional to support the work of Canada’s NDP.
Job Duties
- Director-level administrative support (record-keeping, proofreading, note-taking, transcription and correspondence processing and response)
- Schedule and meeting management
- Office logistics management
- Travel arrangements
- Compilation and reconciliation of corporate credit card with invoices and preparation of monthly statements for bookkeepers
- Represent the Director as needed and requested
- Information Management: Collecting, organizing, and maintaining confidential and sensitive information. Managing files, records and Sharepoint sites to ensure easy retrieval and accessibility of information as needed
- Relationship Management: Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal stakeholders including MP Offices, Federal Executive and Council members, Provincial Sections leadership
- Serving as a liaison between the Director(s) and various individuals and groups
- Special Projects and Project Coordination as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- Spoken and written fluency in both official languages
- Bachelor’s Degree + 3 yrs of executive-level administrative support (or 5+ years experience without a degree)
- Familiarity with SharePoint or equivalent file-management system
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Proven excellence in verbal and written communications; especially with respect to correspondence
- Experience working with stakeholders
- Experience in a high-paced environment; comfortable working independently, under short deadlines and with a high degree of self-direction
- Proven ability to handle highly sensitive and/or confidential information with tact
- Sound political judgement
- Knowledge and familiarity of the NDP and Canadian labour movement

Terms of Contract:
Full-Time, Permanent
Salary:
$65,000 annually plus full health and dental benefits, 8% annual pension contribution, semi-annual raises for the first 4 years plus annual Cost-of-Living Increase. (as per the Collective Agreement with COPE 225)
