Constituency Office, Kapuskasing, Ontario
Responsibilities
- Greet & assist constituents with their inquiries
- Manage and respond to constituent casework including outreach and correspondence
- Administer and log incoming phone calls, emails, faxes and intakes
- Liaise with various community organizations and federal government departments
- Monitor and advise the Member on issues concerning the riding
- Maintain database
- Organize and coordinate outreach activities and event logistics that offer both visibility for the Member and opportunities to receive constituency feedback
- Represent the Member at events and meetings
- Schedule Member’s constituency activities & assist in coordinating/updating Member’s riding schedule
- Liaise with Member’s Ottawa & Elliot Lake office staff
- Proof read translated documents and translate as required
- Travel to constituency clinics
- Order office supplies
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong organizational & planning skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Proven ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Strong computer skills including Internet, Windows Vista and MS Office 2010 & data bases
- Knowledge of Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing area and riding priorities
- Knowledge of the labour movement, government departments and community organizations
- Bilingualism required
- Knowledge of First Nation communities, culture and issues
- Attention to detail & problem solve skills
- Vehicle required
Hourly rate
$28.37
(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
