Tell the Liberals: Canada is not for sale

When Mark Carney welcomed 200 of the world’s richest CEOs to descend on Toronto, he put Canada’s public infrastructure on the auction block.

Now, everything from our roads and powerlines to our natural resources and even our four largest airports are at risk of being sold and privatized.

New Democrats are joining Canadians across the country to fight back against privatization. The future of Canada belongs in the hands of the many, not the money.

Tell the Liberals: Canada is not for sale. Add your name today.

Mark Carney is selling off Canada's public infrastructure piece by piece — and he's invited the world's richest 1% to buy it up.

On Monday September 14th, the CEOs of American companies like BlackRock, Blackstone and private equity firms met with the Liberals at a luxury hotel in Toronto. Behind closed doors, they drew up a plan to buy up Canada's public goods.

Now, the Liberals have announced that our four largest airports — in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal — are up for privatization.

We only need to look at the airports around the world that have already been privatized, and what it’s costing the public. In Australia, the Sydney Airport cut 40% of its workers as soon as employment protections expired. In New Zealand, regulators found the Auckland Airport was on track to earn hundreds of millions of dollars in excess profits, while travellers had nowhere else to go. In the UK, the government sold off its airports only to watch private owners capture enormous profits from those public assets for decades.

Our airports should always serve the interests of the many, not the money.

That means making air travel more affordable, protecting good airport jobs and improving public infrastructure, not turning them into money-printing machines for CEOs and shareholders.

You don’t save Canada by selling it off piece by piece.

Add your name to protect our public goods and tell the Liberals: Canada is not for sale.
