Statement from NDP Industry critic Hélène Leblanc (LaSalle--Émard) congratulating Chris Hadfield on a successful mission

On behalf of Canada’s New Democrats, I congratulate Commander Chris Hadfield on a successful mission.

We all feel a deep sense of pride in Commander Hadfield’s achievements, which include becoming the station’s first Canadian commander. He engaged not just Canadians but people all around the world and has undoubtedly planted seeds of inspiration for the next generation of astronauts.

Commander Hadfield’s success and the overwhelming interest in his work also serve to highlight the value of investing in the Canadian Space Agency and in the basic scientific research.
