NDP Statement on Jonathan Vance and the Toxic Culture in the Military

Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada’s NDP, issued the following statement:

“We stand with the women in the Canadian Armed Forces who continue to wait for a real culture change in the face of sexual misconduct and assault in the military. Justin Trudeau's Liberals have promised action for six years but have failed to act to make any needed change.

It is not enough to call yourself a feminist if you continue to fail women who have waited years for action.

We’ve known for years that this is a problem and Mr. Vance's case is just the tip of the iceberg. The entire institution of the military needs to be reformed.

Instead of implementing the recommendations of the Deschamps Report, Justin Trudeau has asked for a new report when the solutions are already known. It is unacceptable to continue feet dragging, when women need action now.

Canadians deserve so much better."
