NDP Statement on International Day of Peace
Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada’s NDP, issued the following statement:
“Every year, people’s lives are disrupted by conflict and war – with many having to leave their homes, and others enduring trauma, violence, and loss.
The right to peace is an important element in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Peace is a necessary foundation for people to build their lives, and for countries around the world to work together to make life better for people.
On this International Day of Peace, we recognize the inalienable rights of all people to live in peace. Let’s take the time to ask ourselves what peace means to us and commit to building a stronger foundation for greater peace in the world.”
