NDP celebrates National Acadian Day

With bold costumes and makeup, marching to the music of pots, pans and whistles, Acadian families will once again take part in the excitement of National Acadian Day.

New Democrats proudly add our voices to this grand celebration showcasing the diversity and strength of the Francophone presence in Canada.

National Acadian Day is an opportunity for all Canadians to celebrate the vital contributions that Acadians have made to this country and to celebrate Acadian culture and heritage in all its richness.

As the first permanent settlement from France in Canada, Acadians have deep roots in communities across this country. In recognition of this heritage, New Democrats supported the motion in Parliament leading to the first official declaration of National Acadian Day in 2003.

Today, we encourage all Canadians to participate in National Acadian Day celebrations in their region and to take this opportunity to learn more about Acadian culture.
