Jagmeet Singh promotes dental care expansion in Saskatoon

SASKATOON – On Thursday, Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh continued his Canada-wide post-budget tour, talking to Canadians about how the NDP secured dental care for children under 18, seniors, and people living with a disability and a doubling of the GST rebate.

The GST rebate will save over 250,000 Saskatchewan families up to $467, and the dental care expansion will save eligible families up to $1,247 annually.

“Right now, people can barely keep up with the high cost of everything. They’re living in pain because they can’t afford to go to the dentist and they have to turn to food banks to feed their families,” said Singh. “Everyday families need results, and that’s exactly what New Democrats have done. We’ve saved working people up to $1700— that’s money that can help cover your family’s bills.”

Singh also met with dental students at the University of Saskatchewan to hear about how the dental care expansion will positively impact their low-income patients. In addition, Singh met with the Mayor of Saskatoon, Charlie Clark, and hosted a meet and greet to engage local Saskatoon residents.

“Better days are ahead with New Democrats. I’m hearing from people across the country how grateful they are for the dental care expansion and how more money back in their pockets will go a long way. This is just the start - New Democrats will keep fighting for you and your family,” said Singh.
