Harper must help secure release of Canadians in Egypt

OTTAWA – Official Opposition Leader Tom Mulcair wrote to Prime Minister Stephen Harper today demanding he take swift action to secure the freedom of two Canadians imprisoned in Egypt.

“Given the complexity and the urgency of their situation and the difficult political context in Egypt, I urge you to intervene personally,” Mr. Mulcair writes in his letter. “The continued delay is unacceptable and completely unjustified. Recent news that Dr. Loubani and Mr. Greyson have begun a hunger strike further emphasizes the need for urgent action on this case.”
