Responsibilities
- Administer and log incoming phone calls, emails, faxes and walk-in traffic
- Liaise with community organizations
- General administrative duties
- Represent Member at events and meetings as required
- Organizing summer events in the riding
- Monitor events in constituency and advise Member on issues in the constituency
- Assist in coordination of Member’s schedule
- Media liaison, monitoring and advertising
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of Nanaimo--Ladysmith and riding priorities
- Proven verbal and written communication skills conveying policy and legislation to a general audience, using values and actions
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Proven experience in event organization, promotion and execution
- Strategic planning experience, an asset
- Knowledge of government departments, community organizations and the labour movement
- Strong computer skills including Internet, Windows and MS Office
- Knowledge of the New Democratic Party
- Media relations skills, an asset
- Vehicle and license required
Annual salary
$ 51,155
(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
