Location

Constituency Offices, Lavaltrie and Louiseville, Quebec

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and manage issues and outreach opportunities and events relating to the Member’s work in the riding (including visibility and constituent feedback)
  • Represent the Member at events and meetings
  • Monitor events in riding and advise the Member on issues concerning the riding
  • Develop excellent media relations in the riding
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with key individuals and organizations in the community, including municipal issues and officials
  • Schedule Member’s constituency activities and liaise with Parliament Hill office to coordinate Member’s schedule
  • In conjunction with Member’s Ottawa Office, assist with media and communications work, including preparing newsletters and mailings
  • Manage and respond to constituent casework including outreach and preparing correspondence, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations, including development and implementation of communications strategies
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Strong computer skills including Internet, Windows and MS Office
  • In-depth knowledge of Berthier-Maskinongé riding, of its issues and priorities
  • Knowledge of the New Democratic Party and sound political judgement
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the labour movement, government departments, and community and business organizations in the riding
  • Desktop publishing, graphic design and layout skills (Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Experience working with social media (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.)
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, as needed (evening and weekend)
  • Bilingualism, an asset

Annual salary

$55,500

(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
