Communications Officer – French Writer - Permanent, Full-time Position

Responsibilities
- Write, edit and coordinate the production content for a variety of French print and digital products—including leaflets, direct mail, social media content, statements, press releases, opinion editorials and websites
- Develop additional content as needed to serve the day-to-day needs and long-term strategic objectives of the NDP leader, the national and Quebec caucus
- Ensure written content follows strict messaging, as well as branding and writing guidelines—with targeted language and tone reflective of the goal and audience
- Liaise with NDP researchers, communications staff, legislative assistants and the Quebec bureau to ensure consistency in approach
- Assist with support and training of MP staff
- Work collaboratively to advance the NDP caucus’ goals and agenda
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Relevant work experience in speechwriting/copywriting/advertising/media/social media
- Proven ability to ensure consistent quality of written output, with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated strategic political judgment and existing knowledge of contemporary Canadian politics and current affairs
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work productively under pressure, handle competing priorities, take initiative, be proactive and manage projects independently
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Experience creating social media content is an asset
- Bilingualism required
Annual salary
$62,500
(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
