Statement by Official Opposition Leader Tom Mulcair on Ras el Am el Hijri

To all Canadians celebrating Ras el Am el Hijri I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes for the New Year.

The New Year is an occasion of rebirth and renewal. This is a time to gather with our loved ones and give thanks for friends and family, reflect on the past and look with hope to the year ahead.

New Democrats recognise the strong contributions of Muslim communities to the Canada we are all proud to call home, and join Canadians of all faiths in building a greener, fairer and more prosperous Canada.
