Jagmeet showed Canadians he’s the fighter they need

GATINEAU—During the final debate of the campaign, Jagmeet Singh called out Justin Trudeau for his failures and showed Canadians he’s a strong, compassionate fighter for the supports they need.

“Justin Trudeau has spent the campaign like he spent the last six years – saying the right things but having no interest in following through. Canadians have stopped believing him,” said Jagmeet. “If Justin Trudeauhe wanted to follow through on his commitments, like clean drinking water to First Nations and making life more affordable for families across Canada, he had the chance,” said Jagmeet. “Instead, he gave billionaires a free ride and called an election to take more power for himself.” He’s spent the campaign like he spent the last six years – saying the right things but having no interest in following through. Canadians have stopped believing him. They know they can’t afford any more of his empty promises.”

During the debate, Justin Trudeau couldn’t explain why he called an election instead of delivering on his promises to Canadians.

On climate change, Justin Trudeau couldn’t defend his record of climate failure. Jagmeet wouldn’t let him get away with excuses and more empty promises, “you had six years.”

He talked about clean drinking water to First Nations but didn’t make it happen. He said he would move to make medications more affordable, but he completely left pharmacare out of his last budget and his platform. He promised to tackle the housing crisis, which he’s made worse, but did nothing while house prices skyrocketed. He promised affordable childcare, but called an election before he could see it through. And he He dismissed Jagmeet’s calls for paid sick leave throughout the pandemic, then cynically made it a campaign commitment. And he denied the truth that he is taking Indigenous kids to court.

“Canadians are struggling through serious challenges, but rather than help them Justin Trudeau is focused on gaining more power for himself,” said Jagmeet. “Mr. Trudeau is big on talk but short on action. After six years, Canadians know they can’t afford any more of his empty promises.it’s clear we can’t afford more of that. I’m not Justin Trudeau. I will fight for working people and deliver.”
