Conservative Ministers contradicts each other on extension of mission in Iraq

If you tuned into CTV’s Question Period on Sunday, you would have seen Defence Minister Rob Nicholson refuse to say how long the mission in Iraq would be. As the Canadian Press noted:

“Defence Minister Rob Nicholson is refusing to say whether Canada will bow out of its planned combat role in Iraq after six months or seek an extension.” October 5, 2014

But if you tuned into John Baird speaking on Global’s West Block you would have heard him saying this:

“The resolution before Parliament is authorizing this limited military actions for up to six months… If it goes beyond that, we’ll turn to the House of Commons.”

So how long will the mission be, six month with no extension or six months with an extension, and will it come back to the House for a vote, or not?

It depends on which Conservative minister you ask.

Canadians deserve better.
