A New Deal for Young People
Lifting the debt burden. Access to education shouldn’t depend on how much your parents make. We’ll build towards a post-secondary education system without the barrier of cost – starting with an immediate end to interest charges on student loans.
A place to call home. With a rental benefit of up to $5,000 a year and 500,000 new units of affordable housing – we’re committed to making sure young people don’t have to scrape by every month to afford a decent place to live.
Making your life easier and more affordable. Costs add up – but with our plan to cover your prescriptions, lower your cell and internet bills, and create 500,000 affordable child care spaces – we’ll make it easier for you to make ends meet.
Confronting the climate crisis. The world is facing a climate emergency. But instead of taking action, Justin Trudeau bought a $4.5 billion pipeline. We’ll fight climate change like we want to win – and create 300,000 new, good jobs while we do it.
Good work and fair treatment. Too many young people are dealing with low wages and unfair labour practices. We’ll change that by raising the federal minimum wage, ending unpaid internships, and ensuring part-time and contract workers are compensated fairly.
The courage to do what’s right. For too many young people, hurtful discrimination remains a reality. We need to do more to advance gender equality, uphold LGBTQI2S+ rights, and confront racism in every community. We’ll fight for reproductive justice, ensure trans people can access health care, and fight discrimination and hate.
