Responsibilities

  • Media liaison, monitoring and advertising
  • Organizing events in the riding
  • Represent Member at events and meetings
  • Liaise with community organizations
  • Monitor events in constituency and advise Member on issues in the constituency
  • Assist with casework, as required
  • Assist with design and content creation for advertising and mail programs
  • Administer and log incoming phone calls, emails, faxes and walk-in traffic
  • General administrative duties
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Nanaimo--Ladysmith and riding priorities
  • Proven media relations skills and experience
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills conveying policy and legislation to a general audience, using language that conveys values and actions
  • Extensive experience with social media
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Proven experience in event organization, promotion and execution
  • Knowledge of government departments, community organizations and the labour movement
  • Strong computer skills including Internet, Windows and MS Office
  • Knowledge of the New Democratic Party
  • Experience with Adobe Design Suite, an asset
  • Vehicle and license required

Annual salary

$54,000

(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
