Senior Web Developer

Job Summary

Canada’s NDP is looking for a versatile web developer with a passion for building great campaign tools and developing web environments to support the NDP in its fight for a more progressive Canada. In this job, you’ll deliver web tools and content to engage Canadians in the leadup to the 2019 Election, ensuring easy-to-use web assets are ready to go for organizers and staff across the country.

Working as part of our digital department, you’ll spend your days building compelling web experiences that inform and engage voters, recruit volunteers, and grow our donor base. You’ll be involved in planning, designing, coding, and testing multi-platform digital campaigns, as well as tracking and optimizing user experience.

Job Duties

  • Technical support and development of NDP tools and other web experiences
  • Technical support and administration of NDP websites
  • Project Management of web-based projects and tools
  • Collaborate with the Digital Team to build web tools for fundraising, organizing and to support other digital campaigns
  • Manage web servers with the assistance of other IT staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • You’re super experienced developing with CSS, jQuery and HTML.
  • Experience with Drupal
  • You're comfortable writing server-side code in PHP or an equivalent language.
  • At least some exposure to PHP and writing functions in a server-side scripting language.
  • Passion for politics and electing more New Democrats in Ottawa
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the structure, history, policies and principles of the New Democratic Party of Canada.

Assets

  • Raw Javascript coding skills.
  • Experience with Wordpress
  • Comfortable working on and managing a linux server.
  • You know your way around web analytics, testing tools & optimization.
  • Front-end UI/UX development experience.
  • You’re bilingual. (Not a requirement)
  • Experience working with big data sets – collecting, analyzing, and using.
  • You’re a good writer – you love developing content as much as code.
