Right now in Canada, trans and gender diverse people continue to be denied full equality, denied the freedom to be themselves, and denied the safety and acceptance every Canadian deserves.
The federal government has a role to play in changing this norm and protecting trans people, especially those who are at a higher risk of discrimination and violence.
During a time where trans rights are being attacked by Conservative premiers and leaders across the country, it is crucial that the federal government do everything in its power to not only protect, but to advance the rights of trans and gender diverse Canadians.
That’s why NDP MP Randall Garrison sponsored parliamentary petition e-4666, calling on the government to implement the measures outlined in his White Paper on the Status of Trans and Gender Diverse People.
