NDP STATEMENT ON THE RESIGNATION OF MINISTER PHILPOTT FROM CABINET

"It’s clear Canadians need a public inquiry now more than ever.
Jane Philpott's resignation from Cabinet is not only further evidence of PMO interference and improper pressure on the Attorney General, it also highlights the need to waive solicitor-client privilege to hear what happened between the Prime Minister, his office, Jody Wilson-Raybould and cabinet after she was fired.

In addition, the Prime Minister and all of those mentioned in Jody Wilson-Raybould’s testimony need to testify under oath.
Jane Philpott has made her decision based on information she received from cabinet; Canadians deserve to know what happened as well.
Canadians need a government that's on their side. We once again call on Justin Trudeau to agree to an independent public inquiry, now."
