NDP Announces Michael Balagus as Interim Chief of Staff

OTTAWA - Today NDP Leader, Jagmeet Singh, announced the appointment of long-time senior NDP strategist Michael Balagus as Interim Chief of Staff to the NDP.

Balagus is currently Chief of Staff to Andrea Horwath, the Leader of the Opposition in Ontario. Michael was the architect of the Ontario NDP’s historic breakthrough in the 2018 provincial election, and previously worked with the NDP in Ottawa under Audrey MacLaughlin.

Balagus brings in a wealth of strategic experience and also served as the Chief of Staff to the Premier Greg Selinger of Manitoba as well as the Chief of Staff to Premier Gary Doer in Manitoba.

“I’m so excited to have Michael leading this incredible team here in Ottawa,” said Singh. “He's the best in the business when it comes to the NDP family throughout the country, and we’re so lucky to have his wealth of experience to help us build towards forming the government Canada deserves in 2019."
