MP Niki Ashton Joins Call for Progressive International

Burlington, Vt – At the inaugural Sanders Institute Gathering, an event organized by Co-founders Jane Sanders and David Driscoll, MP Niki Ashton (Churchill-Keewatinook Aski) joined U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, Yanis Varoufakis, Ada Colau and others in launching Progressive International, a global movement to end inequality, exploitation, discrimination and environmental degradation.

“We are at a crossroads both in Canada and globally. We can stand with the 1% and their corporate greed, or we can join with the people already leading the fight. Our future depends on it,” said Ashton.
“We are thrilled to have MP Ashton join us at the inaugural Sanders Institute Gathering. Her clarion voice in Canada is very welcome in Vermont and we look forward to an ongoing collaboration in moving progressive ideas forward and affecting change,” said Jane Sanders.
“The purpose of the Sanders Institute Gathering is to bring progressives minds together to envision and actualize a better future for the United States, Canada, and the world,” added Driscoll. We want to build a global network of progressives to join us in that mission.”
