The Liberal Government Must Ground Boeing 737 Max 8 Aircrafts Until Causes of Accident are Known

NDP Transportation Critic Robert Aubin made the following statement:

"Today we are mourning the 18 Canadians who died in the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims who are living through an extremely painful time.
Canadians need to feel confident when they fly. The feeling of security must not be shaken.
Following the tragedy, several jurisdictions such as France, the United Kingdom, Australia and China have decided to close their airspace to the Boeing 737 MAX 8 as they wait to learn more about the causes of the accident. The Minister of Transport wanted to be reassuring, but is not planning any action. How can Canadians trust a government that promotes self-regulation and big companies to the detriment of the well-being and security of the people?
The Minister must apply this precautionary principle and ground Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircrafts until the black boxes reveal the causes of the crash. Canada must follow the path of other countries and ensure that such a tragedy does not happen again. Canadian travelers should not fear for their safety when flying. This is the government’s responsibility."
