Jagmeet Singh Will be an Ally for Quebec

The NDP Leader appoints Alexandre Boulerice as Deputy Leader of the NDP.

MONTREAL — Surrounded by NDP MPs Alexandre Boulerice (Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie) and Brigitte Sansoucy (Saint-Hyacinthe-Bagot), today NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh unveiled his plan to reconnect with Quebec and rally progressives from coast to coast to coast.

"I firmly believe that Quebec is a distinct nation within our country and I promise you today that I will be an ally for Quebec and that I will do things differently," said Singh. “That is why I am pleased to appoint Alexandre Boulerice as Deputy Leader of the NDP.”

The NDP Leader believes that the MP for Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie is in the best position to support his ongoing efforts to reconnect with progressives in Quebec. Boulerice will be responsible for recruiting the NDP team of candidates and leading the campaign in Quebec.

"It is quite an honour for me and I am determined to carry out this mandate," said Boulerice. “We will have an environmental plan that will put an end to half-measures. We are going to make a bold, courageous, and visionary shift—a shift that really focuses on the collective interest.”\
"I am incredibly proud to have a Leader who is an ally for Quebec," added Brigitte Sansoucy, Chair of the Quebec Caucus. “I will ensure that the NDP will have concrete solutions for Quebecers at the heart of its platform, and focus on issues like employment, agriculture and support for families. That's the shift we're going to make.”

Between now and the National Holiday, New Democrats will present a series of Quebec-specific announcements. NDP Deputy Leader Alexandre Boulerice will soon announce the person ready to fight to succeed Hélène Laverdière as MP in Laurier-Ste-Marie.
