Responsibilities

  • Assist to coordinate outreach opportunities and events relating to the Member’s work in the riding, including visibility and constituent feedback
  • Participate at events and meetings related to the Member’s schedule
  • Help to monitor events in riding and flag issues concerning the riding
  • Assist to liaise with community organizations
  • Assist the Member with local activities and community outreach
  • Deliver communications material to the Member’s constituents
  • Meet with constituents and collect feedback from the community
  • Provide assistance to regular staff with community outreach projects
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and to meet deadlines
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Nanaimo—Ladysmith riding and riding priorities
  • Knowledge of the New Democratic Party and sound political judgement
  • Knowledge of the labour movement, government departments and community organizations
  • Knowledge of databases an asset
  • Bilingualism an asset
  • Vehicle and driver’s licence an asset

Hourly rate

$25.68

(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
