Responsibilities

  • Manage, prepare, and respond to constituent correspondence
  • Occasionally assist with other communications work, including preparing social media content, newsletters, mailings, memos, briefing notes, and media releases
  • Other writing, drafting, and editing duties as assigned
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proven writing and editing skills to thoroughly review and draft responses to daily correspondence
  • Knowledge of the federal riding of Nanaimo—Ladysmith and riding priorities
  • Knowledge of NDP priorities and commitments
  • Sound political judgement and intersectional analysis
  • Knowledge of community organizations, government departments, and different levels of jurisdiction
  • Computer skills including Internet-based research, inbox management, MS Office, and Teams

Assets

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands as they arise
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Experience collaborating with traditionally under-served populations and groups

Hourly rate

$30.31

(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
