Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to constituent casework including outreach and correspondence
  • Administer and handle incoming phone calls, emails, correspondence and walk-in traffic
  • Liaise with various community organizations and federal government departments
  • Help coordinate plans and activities to increase the Member’s visibility in the riding
  • Monitor events in riding and advise the Member on issues concerning the riding
  • Maintain database lists and help deliver communications products
  • Liaise with Member’s Ottawa office
  • General administrative and reception duties
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Relevant post-secondary education (e.g. social work) or equivalent experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Passion for advocacy and social justice
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Solid computer skills including Internet, Windows and MS Office, and MS Excel Spreadsheet
  • Experience working with social media (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Vancouver Kingsway riding and riding priorities
  • Knowledge of the New Democratic Party and sound political judgement
  • Bilingualism or Chinese, Punjabi, Vietnamese, or Tagalog language knowledge, an asset

Annual salary

$55,500

(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
