Bonita Zarrillo, MP - Constituency Assistant, Permanent, Part-Time Position (15 hours/week)

Responsibilities

  • Create, manage and prepare statistics and data insights from various sources
  • Implement digital strategies to inform the community of the work of the Member
  • Establish new systems for ongoing data management and digital outreach
  • Organize, in consultation with Parliament Hill office, outreach activities that offer both visibility for the Member and opportunities to receive constituency feedback
  • Manage databases, maintain database lists, and direct mail to constituents in coordination with Ottawa parliamentary office
  • Schedule Member’s constituency activities and liaise with Parliament Hill office to coordinate Member’s schedule
  • Represent the Member at events and meetings, including weekends and evenings
  • Monitor events in riding and advise the Member on issues concerning the riding
  • Manage and respond to constituent casework including outreach and correspondence
  • Administer and log incoming phone calls, emails, faxes, and walk-in traffic
  • Liaise with various community organizations and federal government departments
  • Liaise with Member’s Ottawa Office
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Internet-based research, Mailchimp, Outlook and databases
  • Knowledge and experience using Populus
  • Desktop publishing, graphic design, and layout skills, an asset
  • Strong experience working with social media (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.)
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills in English, including media relations
  • Knowledge of Port Moody—Coquitlam and riding priorities
  • Knowledge of the New Democratic Party and sound political judgement
  • Knowledge of the labour movement, government departments and community organizations
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Bilingualism, an asset
  • Vehicle and driver’s license, an asset

Hourly rate

$30.31

(Salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
