Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and manage issues and outreach opportunities and events relating to the Member’s work in the riding (including visibility and constituent feedback)
  • Represent the Member at events and meetings
  • Monitor events in riding and advise the Member on issues concerning the riding
  • Write, collect material and prepare householders, direct mail, op-ed pieces, media material, news releases, speeches, articles and correspondence
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with key individuals and organizations in the community, working on similar issues
  • Volunteer management
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proven verbal and written communication skills, including media relations
  • Excellent writing skills in French and English
  • Superior oral and written French language skills
  • Proven ability to build networks (youth, women, environment, agriculture, SME)
  • Experience working with social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
  • Strong computer skills including Internet, Windows and MS Office
  • Graphic layout skills, particularly InDesign and Photoshop
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of Salaberry-Suroît needs and priorities
  • Knowledge of the New Democratic Party and sound political judgement
  • Knowledge of the labour movement, government departments and community organizations
  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations and/or Administration, or equivalent experience
  • Bilingualism is required
  • Vehicle and driver’s licence required

Hourly rate

$27.85

(salary levels subject to clauses 12 and 21 of the collective agreement)
